WATCH: Nintendo Switch’s latest accessories made of cardboard, fueled by imagination

Nintendo has begun an experiment on a new way to play with the Switch: by inserting the console into cardboard creations.

Like folding origami, Nintendo Labo provides users with instructions on how to create a cardboard accessory for the Switch.

Accessories, called Toy-Cons, range from small houses to robot backpacks, motorcycle handlebars and pianos. Apart from folding cardboard, it appears strings and possibly rubber bands are also part of the building materials.

Users attach their Switch and Joy-Cons in various ways depending on what game they want to play.

The video previewed a bit of the inner workings for one of the more complicated items, the robot backpack. Younger kids may need help assembling some of these more intricate builds.

Nintendo has scheduled the launch of the Toy-Cons on April 20. Two sets will be available for purchase: a Variety Kit for $69.99 (about P3,500) and a Robot Kit for $79.99 (around P4,000).

The Variety Kit includes five Toy-Cons, which consit of two RC cars, a fishing pole, a house, a motorbike and a piano.
