MANILA - Two successive earthquakes struck off Occidental Mindoro late Sunday night, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The first magnitude 4.9 quake occurred at 11:20 p.m., 33 kilometers southwest of Paluan town in Occidental Mindoro.
Another stronger quake, at magnitude 5.2, hit the same town at 11:49 p.m.
Instrumental intensity II was recorded in Tagaytay City, Calatagan, Batangas and Calapan, Oriental Mindoro for the first earthquake.
For the second earthquake, Intensity III was felt in Quezon City, while Instrumental Intensity III was recorded in Tagaytay City.
No damage is expected, although aftershocks are expected, Phivolcs said.
