The Quezon City government on Thursday turned over brand new patrol cars and Israel-made assault rifles to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) to “ensure peace and order” in the city.

Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista turned over 25 Toyota Vios sedans and 100 Galil rifles to equip the 5,000-strong members of the QCPD.

As he formally handed over the equipment to the police, Bautista said he only had two requests for the QCPD: keep the city peaceful and orderly, and get rid of erring cops.

“Panatilihin nating matahimik, maayos, mapayapa ang Quezon City,” Bautista said in his speech.

“Ikalawang request, bawal na ang mga pasaway na men in uniform na mga nasa pulisya natin,” he added.
