Meralco got off to a quick start and maintained its hot shooting the rest of the way to rout Star 98-74 at Santa Rosa Multi-Purpose Complex in Laguna on Tuesday and take a 2-0 lead in their best-of-5 semifinals series in the PBA Governors’ Cup.
In the first quarter, Meralco shot 12 of 18 from the field to take a 30-11 lead and never looked back, as Star struggled without Paul Lee who left the game in the first quarter because of an injury.
Ranidel de Ocampo, Jared Dillinger and Allen Durham each scored 18 points to lead Meralco, which hopes to return to the Governors' Cup finals.
Overall, Meralco shot 52% from the field (39 of 74) and made 14 3-pointers for 42% from long range (14 of 33)
Dillinger hit 6 of 8 from downtown, while de Ocampo and Baser Amer each had 3 triples.
Mark Barroca led Star with 16 points, while teammate Kris Acox finished with only 9 points.
