Larry Hryb has provided several responses in regards to several issues surrounding the recently-launched Xbox One. According to a report from IGN on Dec. 7, the director of programming for Xbox Live clarified that the next-generation system is not compatible with Xbox 360 video games.

We strongly advise consumers against changing these settings as it could result in their Xbox One becoming unusable. Customers who have put their consoles into this developer setting can revert by restoring factory defaults under Settings / System, select Restore Factory Defaults.

Microsoft previously confirmed that the Xbox One won’t be able to play Xbox 360 video games. The console manufacturer also stated that the next-generation system can be turned into a development kit sometime in the future.

The Xbox One was officially released for the North American regions as well as other select European countries on Nov. 22.
