Buffer initially announces 'Carlos Estrada' as the winner, setting off confusion in the ring

After a grueling 12-round war between former champions from Mexico, Carlos Cuadras and Juan Francisco Estrada on the Saturday, September 9 (Sunday Manila time), Michael Buffer had the scorecards in hand and announced the winner as "Carlos Estrada", sending the team of Cuadras into jubilation while Estrada's demanded confirmation of the verdict.

"Apologies please...the score goes the other way," Buffer said before announcing Estrada as the narrow winner, setting him up as the mandatory challenger to WBC super flyweight champ Srisaket Sor Rungvisai of Thailand, who reaffirmed his place atop the 115-pound class with a knockout of Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez later in the night with a fourth-round knockout.

Estrada (36-2, 15 knockouts) had sealed the 114-113 verdict on all 3 cards with a knockdown on a right cross, which proved to be the margin of victory.
