THE Office of the Ombudsman has dismissed the criminal and administrative complaints filed against former Bureau of Customs (BoC) deputy commissioner for enforcement, Arnel Alcaraz, customs collector, Atty. Rhea Gregorio and several others from the bureau for the alleged “illegal seizure” of a shipment of plywood at the Port of Manila in 2016.
“There is no evidence that Alcaraz acted in bad faith or in an unreasonable and arbitrary manner. Wherefore, the present administration and criminal complaints are dismissed.”
A month later, however, in November 2016, then Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon -- whom Alcaraz zealously defended from critics -- would dismiss Alcaraz for alleged “corruption.”
