The ‘2013 Mnet Asian Music Awards’ (MAMA) takes place today (November 22nd) at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Arena, and Big Bang’s G-Dragon has revealed at a press conference about his desire to work with Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber.
G-Dragon said, “This is a music extravaganza so I am always nervous and excited whenever I stand on the ‘MAMA’ stage. The all-new performances that I have prepared are really fun. I am really looking forward to seeing all the performances that will take place this year. Many artists are participating this year, and as a Korean singer, I hope to put on a performance that will make all Koreans proud.”
“It has been discussed, but we aren’t sure when it will happen, but we have prepared for it. I don’t want to think of it as a big project. I just want it to be something that we can work together on because it’s interesting and we admire each other’s talents. In that way, there will not be any pressure when we collaborate, and we can produce even better stuff. I don’t know when this will take place, but I believe that day will come eventually. Justin Bieber has already completed his recording, so it’s my turn next. I believe it will reach everyone next year.”
Q: Heard that Angelababy went to your concert, and also the post-concert party. Any thoughts?
“She did attend the concert, and I got to know her through ‘MAMA’ last year. But I haven’t seen her after the concert, and I don’t get what you are trying to say.”
“After seeing them, I realized that they are all very trendy. They would go to great lengths to doll themselves up before coming to my concert. I don’t really know where I should look whenever I go on stage to perform.”
Q: There’s something common between you and Paris Hilton, in that you are both really trendy. Any thoughts about meeting each other at this year’s ‘MAMA’?
“I love clothes and fashion. I have lots of clothes, but I have never thought about the question of meeting Paris Hilton. Regardless, it’s a very exciting thing to meet a celebrity. It’s been some time since I performed on stage or attended a red carpet ceremony. I am going to do a good job today, and let everyone see the different sides of me. I really put in effort for today.”
The ‘2013 MAMA’ will be beamed live to an estimated audience of 24 billion in 93 countries, where a total of 19 local and 6 overseas awards will be handed out. Among those who are attending include Stevie Wonder, Paris Hilton, Ylvis, Aaron Kwok, Big Bang, EXO, Rain, Busker Busker, Lee Hyori, SISTAR, Ailee, Trouble Maker, and many more.
