National Artist Carlos “Botong” Francisco’s rediscovered work on the life of José Rizal called “Rizaliana” has recently been unveiled to the public at the municipal hall building of Angono in Rizal province.
The unveiling coincided with the 105th birth anniversary of Francisco, who was posthumously declared National Artist in 1973.
Francisco is one of two National Artists who hailed from Angono, the other being National Artist for Music Lucio San Pedro.
“Rizaliana” was done for free by Francisco for the Angono Pilot School, now the Angono Elementary School Central, in mid 1950s. But it was moved to the Don Joaquin Guido Elementary School after the former school suffered damage during typhoon “Yoling” (Patsy) in 1970.
