Two 5-year-old children died in separate drowning incidents in Talisay City and Tuburan town in Cebu on Easter Sunday.
April Ann Tanriago, 5, drowned in Mananga River, Talisay City Sunday morning.
According to SPO1 Aquiles Cabando of Talisay City Police, April Ann and his father Edward Tanriago went fishing in Mananga River.
Edward left her daughter in the riverbank while fishing a few meters away, but to his surprise, April Ann was no longer there when he came back.
He searched for his daughter and found her floating in the river lifeless a few hours later.
The victim was rushed to Talisay District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
At 4 p.m., another 5-year old died in a family resort in Brgy. Apalan in Tuburan town.
The boy was identified as Mark Joseph Gomez, a resident of Barangay Dos in the same town.
PO2 Liliano Pepito, desk officer at Tuburan Police Station, said the boy was in the children's pool together with his mother when he asked permission to go find his father in the resort.
After a while, the mother looked for Gomez and went to his husband but the father denied that his son went to him.
They searched for the boy for a few minutes but was shocked when one of the resort's staff informed them that their son was found floating after drowning in an adult's pool.
He was rushed to Tuburan District Hospital but was also declared dead on arrival.
