The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has suspended three provincial bus trips to Quezon and Aurora today due to the bad weather.
Atty. Aileen Lizada, board member and spokesperson of the LTFRB said the bus trips to the two provinces were suspended based on forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
The board decided to temporarily cancel bus trips in the area to prevent any untoward incident as Tropical Depression Maring will directly hit the two provinces.
Report disclosed that at least three passenger buses bound for Bicol have been stranded at the heavily flooded Pitogo-Gumaca road.
Maring is expected to make its landfall in Mauban, Quezon this morning.
Quezon Provincial Disaster Reduction Risk Management Office (PDRRMO) chief Henry Buzar said a BLTB bus was stranded in the municipality of Pitogo, Barangay Ilaya where 35 passengers were forced to seek refuge in the vehicle’s roof due to the rising floodwater.
The floodwater reached neck-deep drawing fears from the passengers. However, the passengers were eventually rescued and brought to safer grounds after several minutes with no casualties reported.
