MANILA - Companies around the world are cashing in on Valentine's Day, offering lovers items exclusive to the season.

In the US, fast food chains KFC released chicken-scented scratch-and-sniff Valentine's Day cards while rival McDonald's is selling $12,000-worth 18k diamond encrusted burger rings called the "Bling Mac."

Chocolate-maker Mars opened a candy-themed pop-up salon in New York City.

Dating app Tinder is expecting increased activity, after a 20-percent surge in usage in Valentine's Day last year.

In Japan, where people reportedly spend $500 million on chocolates during Valentine's, luxury sweets brand Godiva asked women not give "giri choco" or obligation chocolate in a newspaper ad.
