AUTHORITIES found several undocumented high-powered firearms in a raid Monday afternoon in Matina, Davao City.
Davao City Police Office spokesperson Police Senior Inspector Ma. Teresita Gaspan said at around 5:30 p.m. on December 4, law enforcers served a search warrant against one Earl Vincent Calma at his residence and office at the 4th floor of ACC Building, Sandawa Park, Quimpo Boulevard, Davao City.
Authorities recovered two M4 rifle Bushmaster; two Baby M16 rifle with one M203; eight pieces grenade launchers/M203; 585 live ammunition of M16; 543 pieces live ammunition of caliber .45; 235 pieces live ammunition of 9mm; 60 pieces live ammunition of M14 rifle; 46 live ammunition of caliber 22; and 16 pieces empty short magazine.
They also seized seven long empty magazines, three bandolier of M16 magazine, assisted empty cartridges, pistol belts, nag pouches, and three long firearms black bags.
Gaspan said the operation was launched by the Talomo Police Station (PS3) led by its station commander Police Chief Inspector Ronald Lao with intelligence operatives and investigators of DCPO M2 led by Police Superintendent Jed Clamor, Special Weapon and Tactics (Swat) assigned at the PS3.
The search warrant was issued by Judge Emmanuel Carpio on December 4, 2017 for violation of RA 10591, otherwise known as the “Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.”
Gaspan said all items that were recovered were specified in the search warrant and the operation followed standard operating procedures.
The search was witnessed by Bonna Pamplona, representing the media, and Barangay 76-A village Trajer, Gaspan said. (JCR/SunStar Davao)
