MANILA—A low-pressure area (LPA), or brewing storm, was spotted Friday afternoon, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

In its 5 p.m. advisory, PAGASA said the LPA will bring rains to Eastern Visayas and eastern Mindanao despite a low chance of becoming a full-fledged storm.

The LPA was last spotted 500 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

Another brewing storm was sighted 1,970 kilometers east of northern Luzon, outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

Meanwhile, light to moderate and at times heavy rains, are expected in Western Visayas, Palawan, Mindoro, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite and Batangas due to the southwest monsoon.

Metro Manila, Caraga, Eastern Visayas, Bulacan, and Pampanga will meanwhile experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon and the trough of the LPA.

The rest of the country will experience rain showers brought by localized thunderstorms, PAGASA said.
